In the past twenty years, Schecter Guitar Research has introduced custom modifications to "tone hungry" guitarists who were dissatisfied with the look and sound of their "stock" instruments. They also pioneered the California "superstrat" design which has been duplicated by virtually every other major guitar manufacturer and led to the conception of many "custom" guitar companies.
